A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England & Wales and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka Mr. Amitha Lal Gooneratne has held several senior positions at Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC and served as the Managing Director from 1996 to April 2012.
He was the Founder Chairman of the Financial Ombudsman Sri Lanka (Guarantee) Ltd. and a Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bank's Association (Guarantee) Ltd. He has served on the Board of several Companies under various capacities including Commercial Development Company PLC, Commercial Insurance Brokers (Pvt) Limited, Commercial Leasing and Finance Ltd., and SriLankan Airlines.
Upon his retirement Mr. Gooneratne assumed duties as Managing Director of Melstacorp Limited, the strategic investment arm of the Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC. He also joined the boards of several subsidiary companies of Melstacorp Limited namely, Melsta Logistics (Pvt) Limited, Periceyl (Pvt) Limited, Balangoda Plantations PLC, Lanka Bell Limited, Bellvantage (Pvt) Limited, Texpro Industries Limited, Bogo Power Limited and Continental Insurance Limited. He is also an Independent Director to Lanka IOC PLC and Textured Jersey PLC.
An Attorney-at-Law by profession, Mr. Shivan J.D. Coorey holds an LLB from the University of Luton (UK) and an LLM in the field of Commercial Law from the University of Colombo. He has a wide practice in the Original Courts as well as in the Appellate Property Law, Telecommunication Law and Banking Law.
Mr. Coorey is a legal consultant to many listed companies and has also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and the Chartered Global Management Accountants Mr. Keith D. Bernard is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and possesses an MBA from the Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordan University of Aberdeen and a Masters of Economics (MA) Degree from the University of Colombo.
He counts many years of experience as CEO and in senior management level in diverse sectors ranging from apparel and telecom to the non-governmental and private sectors; and his expertise includes strategy setting, business alignment and objective setting in the financial services industry. He served as a Director General of the Sri Lanka Press Institute and as a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Sri Lanka Division. He is also a consultant to the US based International Executive Service Corps (IESC) for Sri Lanka and Maldives to promote and facilitate long-term loans by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) of the USA.
Possessing over 40 years of banking experience, of which 25 years were in a senior management capacity specializing in Treasury and Merchant Banking functions Mr. Mahendra Thilakasiri Galgamuwa has wide overseas experience in Treasury Management and Treasury Audits in several International markets including U.A.E., Bahrain, London, India and Pakistan.
He has served as Country Treasurer and Head of Merchant Banking (ANZ Grindlays Bank, Sri Lanka), Group Treasurer (ANZ Bank, U. A. E.), Head of Treasury (Mashreq Bank-Colombo Branch), Head of Treasury (Nations Trust Bank) and Head of Treasury and CEO (National Wealth Corporation). As the Consultant Treasurer of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Galgamuwa was instrumental in setting-up and managing the Treasury Division. He has also been a Director of Shell Gas Lanka Ltd. and the General Manager/CEO of the Sanasa Development Bank.
Ms. Shivanthi Atukorale holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Statistics, Computing, Operational Research and Economics from University College London (UK) and also holds a Masters in Business Administration from Imperial College London (UK). Ms. Atukorale functioned as the Vice President/ Business Head, Corporate Liabilities Priority Banking Group in a 16 year career at Citibank N.A. Colombo, Sri Lanka.
She has a proven track record in Corporate Sales and Relationship Management and has successfully managed large and diversified corporate portfolios and bank deposit bases, in addition to developing and executing strategic plans. Ms. Atukorale also has extensive experience in the field of Corporate Credit, Cash Management, Trade and risk associated with structuring solutions to Corporate Clients. She was also a member of Citibank Colombo's Branch Credit Committee and Country Coordinating Committee.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, Mr. Lionel Premasiri Liyanarachchi is a holder of the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and a Diploma in Information Systems, Security, Control & Audit (ISA), India.
He has held many responsible positions in leading local and overseas companies throughout his career, including Ernst & Young in the United Arab Emirates. He began his career at the National Film Corporation in 1976 and served as the Finance Director of the Sarvodaya Movement prior to joining the Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka in 1998, in his present capacity of Chief Internal Auditor.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, Mr. Cleetus Mallawaarachchi holds an MBA from the University of Colombo and counts 22 years of experience in the fields of finance, auditing and consulting.
Mr. Mallawaarachchi began his career at KPMG and has many years of overseas experience in the Maldives, UK and West Africa. He joined the Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC in 2007 as the Group Financial Controller and serves as Director of Lanka Bell Limited and Texpro Industries (Pvt) Ltd., which are subsidiaries of Melstacorp Limited.
Mr. B.A.S.P.S.Balasuriya is a veteran in the banking industry with over 40 years of experience with leading banks in Sri Lanka. His expertise lies in the area of money market and foreign exchange operations.
Prior to joining Melstacorp Ltd. in 2014, he had served at Bank of Ceylon, Standard Chartered Bank, Pan Asia Bank and as Head of Global Treasury at Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. During his long career he has obtained training exposure from many leading financial centers from around the world.
Mr. Nishaman Karunapala received his Masters of Business Administration (Banking & Finance) and Bachelor of Science Business Administration (Special) Degree from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Postgraduate Level Diploma Certificate in Modern Commercial Banking from the Postgraduate Institute of Management Sri Lanka. He also holds a Membership of the Certified Management Accountants (Australia).
Having commenced his career at A. Baur & Co. Ltd., he moved to a banking career with the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka (MBSL) and subsequently served at Seylan Merchant Bank and Mercantile Leasing Limited. Prior to joining Melsta Regal Finance Ltd. he served a nine year period at Orient Financial Services Corporation Ltd., in the capacities of Assistant General Manager (Operations) and Deputy General Manager.
Mr. Karunapala had an opportunity to visit and study systems and operational procedures of reputed Banks and Financial Institutions in Ireland, UK, Singapore, India and Philippines. He is the current Chairman of the Leasing Association of Sri Lanka (LASL), a committee member of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and a former Director of the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB) . He represented international training programs in Ireland ,UK,Japan,Philippines .Mr.Karunapala setup the factoring division at Mercantile Leasing Ltd, Orient Finance PLC and Melsta Regal Finance Ltd.
